This Global Payments Company Just Doubled Down on Crypto

I met its team in Vegas. Here’s why its latest move caught my attention.

Last week, I (Houston) was in Las Vegas for Money20/20, one of the world’s biggest fintech conferences.

At an invitation-only press breakfast, I watched a global payments company with connections to 12 billion bank accounts and digital wallets announce a stablecoin partnership with Coinbase.

Back in 2024, in these pages, Teeka and I were writing about how stablecoins could change the global financial system. They’re the biggest success story so far in a larger trend called “tokenization.”

That’s the process of putting real-world assets, like the U.S. dollar, on a blockchain.

The potential is enormous. Citigroup estimates that stablecoins could support nearly $100 trillion in annual transaction activity by 2030. In its more optimistic scenario, that number could reach $200 trillion.

Our subscribers have already seen what following this trend can do.

Back in February, I recommended Circle (CRCL), the company behind the USDC stablecoin, in our flagship letter, Inside Crypto.

Just 26 days later, those who followed our recommendation had the chance to book a 106% gain on half their position. It’s what we call a “free ride.” That’s when you recover your original investment and let the other half of your shares continue to work for you.

And we see much more coming.

Stocks, bonds, real estate, gold… they’re all starting to move on-chain. Teeka calls this the Fourth Crypto Wealth Wave: the migration of traditional financial assets onto crypto infrastructure.

I saw this shift up close in Vegas.

It started with a compliment from a stranger…

After the press announcement, I tracked down two representatives from Thunes, the payments company behind the Coinbase partnership. Thunes helps businesses move money across more than 140 countries.

One of the guys told me they’d noticed my outfit backstage and liked my style. It’s a brown corduroy suit my wife picked out as a backup for our wedding last winter. I called her later, and we had a good laugh.

Hey, I’ll take the compliment. Only a few years ago, I was showing up to crypto conferences in Hawaiian shirts and Birkenstocks. Back then, I fit right in.

Apparently, my wardrobe has grown up.

More importantly, so has crypto.

Let me show you what I mean… and where Teeka and I see four ways to profit.
