The Robots Are Coming for Your Job… Here’s How to Protect Yourself

We’ve all seen the headlines: “Robots are taking our jobs.”

For years, it felt like sci-fi clickbait – like flying cars and moon resorts.

Not anymore. It’s happening. And it’s scaling faster than most people realize.

In San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Austin, Waymo’s self-driving cars already complete 250,000 paid rides every week. That work used to go to Uber and taxi drivers.

In Miami and Los Angeles, Serve Robotics is delivering food with fleets of autonomous sidewalk bots in partnership with UberEats. They aim to have 2,000 robots live by the end of 2025.

Sam’s Club (owned by Walmart) deployed 600 autonomous cleaning and inventory robots back in 2022.

Earlier this month at Detroit Metro Airport, I saw autonomous wheelchairs taking passengers to their gates without human attendants.

Detroit’s self-driving wheelchairs are a pilot. But these robots are already up and running at major airports like Amsterdam, Miami, Seattle, and Winnipeg.

Add it all up, and the message is clear: Robots are not arriving in some distant future. They’re already transforming our world.

I know this all sounds scary…

But AI won’t wipe out all jobs – it will shift the landscape, eliminating repetitive tasks while creating new, higher-value opportunities that require human judgment, creativity, and leadership.

In fact, those who learn to work with AI rather than against it stand to become far wealthier, as they’ll leverage these tools to multiply their productivity, profits, and impact.
