Under the traditional system, that payment could have been stuck until Monday. Dollars almost never move without passing through the U.S. banking system… And that system was closed.

But this time, it didn’t wait.

The money moved from a Citi account in London to Siam Commercial Bank in Thailand in near real time… without needing to detour through New York.

It never left the regulated banking system. Instead, it moved inside Citi’s own blockchain-based network across international borders.
